Thanks volunteers who worked so hard for public education

Press release

November 7, 2012 (Sacramento):  Sacramento City Unified School District Superintendent Jonathan Raymond issued the following statement today on the passage of Proposition 30 and local Measures Q and R:

鈥淎ll of us at Sac City Unified and across the state are breathing a little easier today knowing that the citizens of California value public education and are willing to invest in our children鈥檚 futures through voter approval of Proposition 30.

鈥淲e are also heartened by our local community鈥檚 support for Measures Q and R.Funding from these measures will allow us to upgrade our classrooms to meet the challenge of preparing every student for college and careers and to make our campuses healthier learning environments for children.

鈥淢y sincere thanks go out to the many volunteers who spent time away from their homes and families working to build support for Proposition 30 and Measures Q and R. I have much gratitude for the many teachers, principals, parents, students, community members and school employees who worked to raise awareness of the plight of our schools.

鈥淢oving forward, we will repay the confidence of voters by working hard to ensure that all of the children we serve have the high-quality education they deserve.鈥
