Principal Bulletin Action Required

Happy new school year!

While we are all focused on the months ahead, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on the past few months. Our partners at Sacramento County Behavioral Health recently shared with us that this was a record summer for youth suicide attempts in our county; including 13 attempts requiring hospitalization in one day alone.

The United States Surgeon General has been calling youth mental health a national epidemic for two years, and locally this rings true.

We can all save lives. As a site administrator, you have a special responsibility in doing so. Here are the steps to take:

  1. Please ensure that your staff know the signs of suicide by sharing .
  2. Review the attached 2024-25 Student Risk Assessment Procedures and share page one with your entire staff (classified and certificated employees alike).
  3. Call, text, or email Liz Sterba, Director, Student Support (916-826-3050) with questions.

Thank you for your leadership and for keeping students safe!
