Office of Innovative Schools and Charter Oversight
Sacramento City Unified School District is guided by the goal that all students be given an equal opportunity to graduate with the greatest number of postsecondary choices from the widest array of options. One of the ways we accomplish this is through the authorization of independent and dependent charter schools.
Charter schools are tuition-free public schools that are independently operated under the supervision of 69ÊÓƵ. The State of California Educational Code and related laws govern charter school oversight and authorization.

Grants Department
The 69ÊÓƵ Grants Department pursues and acquires public and private grants that promote the District’s mission and core values. Department staff oversees, coordinates, and supports grant development activities throughout the District by providing services to teachers, staff, and administrators and by serving as a liaison with current and potential external funding agencies.
Since the 2014-2015 school year, the Grant Department has garnered nearly $75 million in funding for Sac City Unified.
